Jaundice Blue Light

Phototherapy uses fluorescent light, known as bili lights, directed onto bare skin. A specific wavelength of this blue light breaks down bilirubin into a form that the body can eliminate through urine and stools. During treatment, the newborn is placed under the lights either unclothed or wearing only a diaper.
